Where can I eat near Edinburgh Zoo?
The Prahna Indian Grill is a five-minute drive east of Edinburgh Zoo, at 295A St John's Road in Corstorphine. We serve modern Indian cooking with a Scottish twist: tandoor classics, Newhaven cod, lamb chops, and a Cutting Masala Chai brewed long. Lunch, afternoon chai, or dinner — booking recommended on weekends.
Edinburgh Zoo sits at the western end of Corstorphine Road. Five minutes east, after Drum Brae Roundabout, Corstorphine Road becomes St John's Road and you arrive at Prahna on the south side. By car the drive takes five minutes in normal traffic, ten at school-run hours. Parking on the door is free; longer stays go to the side streets.
The Lothian buses 1, 12, 21, 22, 26, and X37 run between the zoo and our front door. From the zoo's main gate the bus is around six minutes; from our stop it is a 100-metre walk. Walking the whole way takes about 20 minutes through the residential parts of west Corstorphine.
A weekend at Edinburgh Zoo is best paired with one of three Prahna services:
- Indian brunch on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9am to 11:30am, before the zoo opens.
- Late lunch with the full à la carte from noon to 2:30pm on Friday and Saturday, or all day Sunday.
- Afternoon chai on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between 3pm and 5pm — perfect after a morning with the pandas and Asiatic lions.
Reserve through SevenRooms or by phone on 0131 563 4748. Booking is recommended on weekends, particularly during the zoo's busy seasons.
